The Kenyan colonial government established an emergency situation to suppress the rebellion of the guerrilla Mau Mau. They rose up against the British empire to fight Kenyans by stealing land and expelling it from political life. Although the guerrillas stepped in, it was an important step towards Kenya’s independence.
