Juan Carlos de Borbón was named king by the Spanish Francoist Courts

Juan Carlos de Borbón was named king by the Spanish Francoist Courts. At the death of dictator Francisco Franco was crowned as his successor. In the act he made “an oath of loyalty” to the Francoist principles of the National Movement of Spain with the following words: “I swear by God and on the Holy Gospels, that I comply with and enforce the Fundamental Laws of the Kingdom and keep loyalty to the principles of the National Movement” (“I swear to comply with and enforce the Basic Laws of the Kingdom and keep loyalty to the Fundamentals of the National Movement.”)

Thus they left the post-Franco era politically “tied and well tied”.
