José Antonio Muñagorri was arrested and killed by a former Liberal lieutenant during the First Carlist War on Diseases. During the Carlist War, Muñagorri promoted the Peace and Forces, claiming that the Basques, respecting the Powers, ruled equally. In some way it influenced the agreements of the Bergara Abrazo, although later it was not respected and the outbreaks were annulled.
