In Japan, hunting was started against the Communists. Following the elections held in February, the first with universal male suffrage, several left-wing parties managed to enter Parliament, with the support of the Communist Party, almost banned since its founding, but increasingly stronger. Faced with this, Giichi Tanaka, who managed to renew his office with the bank part, began a repression against the Communists and Socialists.

Over 1,600 people were arrested and tried some 500. It also banned leftist parties and unions.
