The Spanish empire imposed inquisition on the American colonies. It was established in Lima as an organization and then came Mexico City. and Cartagena de Indiasco. They tortured and murdered people considered to be Herps, who in most cases used to punish political dissent. It is estimated that the Spanish inquisition processed 150,000 people and burned thousands of written documents before colonization.
