Huey Pierce Newton was born. He was an American black politician and revolutionary. Bobby Seal founded the Black Panther in 1966. Black communities organized social programs and patrols against police violence, among others. He wrote the autobiography Revolutionary Suicide. He was shot dead in 1989.
