The riots that lasted for three days in Berlin began when 1,500 police officers moved to evict thirteen occupied buildings from Mainzer Strasse. Their neighbours were prepared for great resistance and used tear gas, water tanks and firearms against them. Dozens of police officers were injured and 417 people were arrested.
