The apartheid regime led to the Sharpeville massacre in South Africa. It was a peaceful demonstration against the laws that limited the mobility of black citizens, who moved outside the police station without passes that the government wanted to impose on them. But police shot and killed 69 people and injured 180. The news of the massacre was expanding protests in the country. That is why today is International Day against Racism.
