The armed organization Umkhonto we Sizwe against Apartheid in South Africa took its first action against government facilities. The organization was created by Nelson Mandela and Joe Slovo, among others, and was the armed arm of the ANC. In the 1980s, numerous explosives were installed and also assisted by the IRA. It was dissolved in 1990.
