From Vienna came the first train filled with Austrian and German children to Euskal Herria. II. Years after the World War, the Franco regime welcomed nearly 3,000 children in the Spanish State, hoping to help improve their international image. Franco himself also welcomed several children in his house, as demonstrated in the media. The expedition was received in Irun with a banquet from which the first 497 children were transferred to Pamplona for dissemination throughout the Spanish state.
