American writer Harriet Beecher Stowe published the novel Osaba Tome etxola, which is about slavery. He wrote from an abolitionist point of view and the first year sold 300,000 copies in the United States, although it was banned in the south of the country. It is considered an important instrument in raising awareness of slavery.
