The first Basques arrived at the Gurs concentration area. It was created in Occitania for refugees from Hego Euskal Herria who fled the war of 1936, although later there were also people from other places. Although it emerged as a host, it became a concentration camp. They had 6,000 Basques in an unfortunate situation.
