Nearly 1,000 members of the Vietnam Veterans Anti-War Association returned war medals to the US government. His intention was to deliver medals and suits in backpacks, but the government built barriers around the Capitol. Medals were thrown over the fence. Many dedicated the action to soldiers killed in the war, both Americans and Vietnamese.
