President of the Generalitat, Companys, and six counsellors were imprisoned by Spanish courts

The president of the Generalitat, Lluis Companys, and six counselors were imprisoned by the Spanish courts. By imputing the “military rebellion”, they were sentenced to 30 years after the proclamation of the Catalan State on 6 October 1934. The events of October 1934, with the beginning of the general strike revolution on October 5, had serious repressive consequences in Catalonia. The day after the proclamation of the Catalan State, the Spanish Government proclaimed the war situation and sent military personnel to Catalonia. In a few days 3,400 people and the Government of Catalonia were arrested in full.
