The Navarro army was attacked in Belate by a group of Guipuzkoans in favour of Castilla with twelve guns

A group of pro-Castile Gipuzkoan sides, together with a group of Navarros beaumonteses, attacked the army of Navarros legitimists in Belate. After the failure of the Pamplona site, the army of the king of Navarre was moving towards Lower Navarre. A group of Guipuzkoan explorers following them met with German mercenaries carrying guns. The Germans, frightened, collapsed the guns and fled.

The twelve guns were transferred to Pamplona and for many years they have been in the Gipuzkoa shield, a symbol of the fragmentation of the Basques.
