The Spanish army enters Estella. Lizarra was an important defensive nucleus of the Kingdom of Navarra after the invasions of Castile in 1200 and 1463. However, in 1512 Navarre cities fell one after the other and had no choice but to open the doors to the Castilian people in the face of threats of looting and destruction. The excesses of the occupying forces led to numerous incidents in the coming months.
