A group of young people founded the Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg association to work with activism for the Galesa. Without the use of violence, numerous campaigns of civil disobedience and direct action were carried out.

Despite the many fines and trials it has brought, they largely reactivated the struggle for language, and many of the elements of language policy that Galesa currently has owes it to the association.
