During the War of Independence against France, the Algerian National Liberation Front murdered 123 settlers in the city of Philippeville, the current Skikda. France responded in the same region with 12,000 Algerian deaths and established an Emergency Situation throughout the country. These are facts that had great influence on the War of Independence.
