Navarro nationalist Fortunato Agirre was born in Arellano. Together with the Second Spanish Republic, he came to the mayor of Estella with the PNV, from where he promoted the Estella Statute, the first statute for the four provinces of the Southern Basque Country. He propelled the first ikastola of Estella and participated in the creation of the football team Osasuna. After the coup d'état of the Francoists, he was captured by the requetés and shot in September in Tajonar.
