The Basque Parliament proclaimed the right to self-determination. The amendment came forward with the favourable votes of PNV, EA and the USA. The HB left the meeting room in protest at refusing to vote on the point statement. The text said that the Basques were capable of freely and democratically deciding their political, economic, social and cultural status. In May 2014, on the initiative of EH Bildu and with the positive vote of the PNV, this declaration was ratified. However, since these proposals are not legal, they have no legal effect.
