In Hego Euskal Herria it was forbidden to write in Basque. A censorship for languages other than Spanish was established by an official letter from the Propaganda Subsecretariat of the Spanish Ministry of State. It was an order addressed to censors and, in particular, stated that “regional languages” had to be banned, if the principles of the Movement and the acts of the Government were not able to create a larger area for dissemination. This Order established an obligation to prohibit, inter alia, publications in Basque which were not in the service of the Movement.
