The workers of Euskaldunon Egunkaria published the Egunean newspaper, demonstrating that they would not silence them. On the eve of the Spanish Civil Guard, the newspaper closed down and detained ten people. Over 50,000 daily copies were published, more than three times as usual, and all were sold.
