Women got the right to vote in Hego Euskal Herria, when the Spanish Republic approved it. There was a great debate in the Spanish Congress, because many of the lefties feared the influence of the Church on women. Clara Campoamor was the most enthusiastic female Member who stood for women’s suffrage.
