Hundreds of fish from Arkaitzerreka, along with the San Sebastian incinerator, were killed. Despite the fact that it is only a contiguous incinerator, the Environment Minister of Gipuzkoa, José Ignacio Asensio, immediately said that this had nothing to do with the incinerator and prohibited the forest guards who came to analyse the situation from accessing it. The emission of ammonia to the river was subsequently recognized.
