In the Dutch colony Curaçao, a group of about 40 slaves started an uprising against the owners. The slaves of other plantations and the prisoners, who joined the rebellion, were released. The freedom lasted for a month and ended the torture and execution of the rebels. “In the end, freedom” says the plate of the sculpture’s foot that you see in the photo.
