On the orders of President Boris Yeltsin, the military bombed the White House of Russia. He was responsible for the disappearance of the Soviet Union and in 1990 he became the first Russian president. Yeltsin dissolved the People's Congress and the Soviets for obstructing their liberalizing policies. After the coup d'état, the Members removed Yeltsin and took refuge in the White House.
