At the Bhopal chemical plant, the early morning was one of the most serious accidents in the world, in India. Due to the lack of security measures by the American company Union Carbide, the compound methyl isocyanate gas, very toxic in the place where half a million people lived, expanded into the air. According to the Government, 5,295 people died and 4,902 were left with lifelong disabilities. The victims reported 22,917 deaths, 508,432 permanent disabilities and 33,781 serious injuries. The company did not pay for the damage caused to thousands of citizens around it.
