22,000 workers at the La Constancia plant in Barcelona, mostly women and children, started a strike against low wages and long hours. It was one of the great mobilizations of the early twentieth century in Catalonia. The strike extended to the workplaces in the area, until 50,000 strikes began to stop. It ended on 15 September with the victory of the workers. The Government set a maximum day of 60 hours per week.
