In Argentina, the so-called “Law of Palaces” was established, punishing sexual exploitation and human trafficking. It was driven by socialist Deputy Alfredo Palacios and pioneered globally. The 1999 International Day against Sexual Exploitation and Trade in Women and Children was celebrated at the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women's World Conference in Bangladesh.
