The siege of the castle of Amaiur ended the defeat of the Navarros. Spanish soldiers destroyed the castle walls in gunfire after several days of siege to the fortress. This defeat, after the conquest of 1512, ended the third legitimate attempt to recover the Kingdom of Navarra. The repression was harsh and the Castilian soldiers systematically exterminated the villages, whether or not they supported them.
