ETA and the Government of Spain set up the negotiating table for Algiers

ETA and the Spanish Government formed the negotiating table for Algiers. ETA proclaimed the interim ceasefire and its aim was to achieve the KAS Alternative. The Spanish Government did not intend to negotiate any political objective, but it is good that, at that time, it would accept the scheme of ‘weapons for prisoners’, that is, that if ETA abandons the armed struggle, it was prepared to accept the process of liberating prisoners and redirecting the return of exiles. There was no consensus in the interviews and the negotiation process was broken. This was the period in which ETA came to a negotiating process with the greatest force.
