Aitzol is born in Tolosa, one of the main drivers of the Basque Renaissance

Aitzol was born in Tolosa, one of the main drivers of the Basque renaissance. José Ariztimuño Olaso was a journalist, writer, religious and entrepreneur. After the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, he did a great job in the Basque industry. He was a fervent nationalist and Vasquist, a refugee at the Beloke Abbey in the 1936 Franco uprising in Lapurdi. On 17 October 1936, he went by sea to Bilbao, when he was arrested by the Francoists. He was shot at the Hernani cemetery along with 191 other people, even though he declared in official documents “free” prison.
