The American banana company Chiquita Brands International recognized its collaboration with the Colombian paramilitary groups. Between 1997 and 2004, he funded these paramilar groups and helped bring weapons to the company's boats. They also allowed them to use the private port they had in Turbo to export drugs. In return, among other things, not only did they stop their plantation in the Uraba region, but they ordered the death of several union leaders, social activists and conflicting plantation workers.
