The first exiled Basque children came to Wales

56 Basque refugee children in Wales. They were warmly received and housed in a boarding school in the Caerleon community. There the Basque Boys football team was formed, which played matches to raise funds for the barnetegi. In May, 3,862 Basque refugee boys and girls took their way into exile on the boat Havana and arrived in Southampton, England, and after settling in the provisional camp, were distributed throughout the United Kingdom.
