In 2018, I leveraged social media and most communications from devices to try to control where I focus on life. Every day I go on that task, in the light of the moth, because my curiosity is constantly looking for fresh information to help me understand reality. At that time I needed no alternative, in my case it was a detoxification work, driven by the need to regain reins in the future of my life. On the other hand, the environment had not happened to me anymore, the people and the organizations involved, guided by the passion of media power, not the knowledge. Ultimately, feeding these passions to the owners of social networks and technologies that promote business models designed for the degradation of the human species.
But I've reopened them, there's an alternative, a fanciful, a different way of making networks and using them. It does not promote any business model related to data, can access from different instances (servers) or create yours. They offer all the possibilities that the current networks of content and interviews have, with greater quality and ethics. Peertube.eus (alternative to Youtube for videos), pexelfed.eus (alternative to Instagram for photos) and mastodon.eus (alternative to X and Facebook for networks and Bluesky), and I find it easier to manage the attention I am asked for.
Maybe you're also thinking about networks, maybe you're clear about the sense of use, but you don't want to promote everything behind it, you think something needs to be changed, but who's going to do that job? No, it will not be done by governments, nor by the owners of the platforms, which in recent weeks have declared that hate speech in those spaces, which is very profitable for their business, will not be preserved. Governments also seem lost. Therefore, each one will have to decide, and in case of doubt, seek help, for example goazenlagunok.eus.
