I've done a quick analysis of the technology forecasts for 2025. Like every year, when you talk about what technology is going to bring to the media in 2025, the discourse is very similar. Many of us who write about technology have the anxiety of knowing more than it's going to come, the need to advance the new, the passion for knowing where the opportunities for power and success are going to be ... But like the parrot, we're all talking about the same thing: artificial intelligence, at work for social media, the ability it has shown to influence governments; the effects that the Elon Musk government model in the Trump administration will have on citizenship; what the quantum chip Willow on Google is going to assume...
Instead, instead of looking at the usual headlines of the tech world, what I recommend to you by 2025 is looking at what's being done outside of it. To what those who are working on the idea of technological diversity do; to those who emphasize the effects of the technology in which we are immersed. Unlike the previous list, in this way there is not much proper name: we are talking about infrastructure and relationships woven by groups, communities, social agents, networks and associations. Those who keep thinking about minimizing the damage that we can produce with technology to life and the planet that we live, those who fight on the road to protecting digital rights, those who protect and empower citizens by creating local infrastructures, those who fight in the digital arena of violence (interpersonal, corporate and coming from public institutions and governments), those who approach the alternative of free software in an ethical way to people, don't create new digital gaps.
In the digital sphere it is clearer than ever that society is organising itself, so in 2025 we will focus on these models, which are the ones that will bring the most interesting innovations in the path of good lives, in the digital sphere.
