When you work with older people or people with physical and neural diversity, you realize that the idea of competition in our society limits us a lot as a species. That is, our system puts you in value by doing things specifically, and what it doesn't do is incapable of the system.
Once upon a time, technologies were extensions to increase our capabilities; for example, I see it better with glasses. However, today, instead of increasing our capacity with digitization, I would say they are being replaced. Following the example above, today the phone can “see” my eyes instead of mine and explain what it sees.
In the capitalist model we have, there are two ways to generate profits: to generate value or to reduce costs. That's why the owners of capital invent pathways to turn people's time and capabilities into benefits. The greatest performance in life, in that view of the world, multiplies the technologies that represent people's capabilities. In order to generate profits, in the linear equation of the owners of capital, they will not yield until the cost and capacity are variables that are exclusively in their hands. When they do, we will not be able to the system.
The Cognitive Language expert Lorena Pérez Hernández has just given a lecture in my village. Among other things, he said: “The speakers are sovereign, we speak as we should. The underlying goal of language is not to communicate, language allows us to think. Language generates reality.” As long as we do not lose that ability to create a language, there will be opportunities to generate new realities and to transform the reality of the idea of competition.
