Asterisks *, dangerous to patriarchy

By beginning to cite in a cross-sectional way the systematic sexual assaults in the church, when students from the universities of Basel and Zürich have denounced rape and sexual abuse committed by teachers, at a time when attacks on trans, non-vitars and queers and racist assaults are on the rise, patriarchy has seen the danger in an asterisk. The right, patron of these values, has tried to make a cultural war with the initiative for the elimination of the star (*) that represents gender dissidents. The promoters of the initiative, SVP and its sponsors, including the association against vaccines that spread the fascist ideology of “verification”, pointed out that its intention was not political, but to maintain the rules of the language. In other words, the introduction of gender dissidents in the German language infringed the rules of the language. The elitist and capacitist right also thought about the rights of the blind. Without shame, trying to instrumentalize the groups that discriminate on a daily basis, they argued that gender starters could make reading difficult. In the referendum, the right-wing initiative with a large majority was rejected and an important signal was given.
The use of the gender star will not protect dissident genders, as this is something that must happen at all levels of society. Even as part of that language, it will not be able to give them the necessary physical, psychological and economic security, nor the legal recognition of their existence. However, the signs are important, because we read the world through them, and also to express that we know how to deal with the attacks. Gender starlings will not kill anyone, power and privilege will.
With this vote, the right has wanted to clear from the table the debate on gender roles, the reality of male violence and the achievements of the feminist movement. So that the current power relations are maintained, so that they can continue to enjoy their privileges, protected by the whole system. Bodies devalued by capitalism and colonialism. Privileges won't give them voluntarily, we lose them through struggle. Drawing asterisks together!
