The art of raising your hand
The Assyrian and Babylonian students did not know the art of raising their hand. It took centuries, and maybe a few millennia, for a student at an Egyptian school, who wanted to ask him something, to try to raise his hand: the teacher who gave an explanation, and the student, who seemed to have begun to doubt this truth, felt an impulse to raise his hand.
The others, seeing the funny interrogation gesture, looked at him with concern. The small Egyptian was ashamed of the scandal that had caused him his natural curiosity and, raising his hand, scratched his head without knowing what to do. It is true that the student did not ask anything, but he took the first step to raise his hand. The road had been scorched.
The same was said by Gianni Rodari at the beginning of a story. For doubt. Curiosity. For the conversation. And as you read that story, you've been asked the questions, at the beginning of the new course: Where have diversity (culture) been well managed? In what society (culture) have diversity not been a source of conflict?
