In a few days, on August 1, a new edition of the Quincena Musical will begin, a favorite summer date for classical music lovers. It will be a month full of beautiful proposals. In addition, outside the classical cycles to be held in Donostia, we will have very good concerts in special places: Arantzazu, Chillida-Leku, Orio, Urrestilla, Leire, Senpere... The offer is really tempting. It is worthwhile to go on vacation that
mes.El program has been known for a long time, so it is for me, as I do every year, to recommend some quotes.
Although it is sometimes said that the great concerts given in the Kursaal Cycle make us forget some of the jewels that are offered elsewhere at the same time, the truth is that this year we will have golden moments in our auditorium.
We will have four major European orchestras, in addition to the performance of the Basque Orchestra, of course. It's hard for me to choose some of these concerts, but I'll do it. The opening concert of the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, with the 5th Symphony of Mahler, wonderful among all the repertoire, is going to generate a lot of expectation. On August 18, the Budapest Festival Orchestra will offer the Symphony No. 38 and the Mozart Réquiem, under the batuta of the lead founder and director Ivan Fischer. Besides being able to enjoy the group that is among the ten best orchestras in the world, the program is really attractive.
Don't miss the Orchestre Philharmonique concert at Radio France. The orchestra is strong and of excellent sound, and in addition to offering a magnificent program – Debussy, Lalo, Ravel, Stravinsky – we will enjoy the performance of the solo cello Sol Gabta. He is a first level Argentine soloist who excites everyone for his technical perfection and, above all, for his extraordinary personality musical.Con the modified cycle, we will be able to hear in the
Victoria Eugenia Theatre, on 19 August, a 17-year-old pianist who has been moved to the Victoria Eugenia theater. It is said that she is not and has not been a ‘prodigious girl’. If we listen to Alexandra Dovgan without seeing her, we will notice her mature music, full of deep musicality and characteristic of a great long-standing pianist.
And it does everything right. Going through Bach to Scriabin, Beethoven, Schumann or Rachmaninov, Dogan offers us a very demanding and exciting programme. For example, I'm eager to hear the interpretation of Alexander Scriabin's 2nd Sonata.
I would not lose in any way the proposal that Abraham Cupeiro is going to make on 29 August in Arantzazu. Merging old instruments with a modern orchestra creates an amazing speech. Along with classical musicians, Oreka TX, Eñaut Elorrieta and Agus Barandiaran’s trikitixa will rise on stage to play Bartok, Piazolla, Cupeiro, Elorrieta bera eta Oreka TX, among others. A bomb.
