Disconnect from violence
Diana Franco Eguren 2024ko apirilaren 17a

Digital space, as it drinks from human dynamics, presents problems similar to those we can find in different social models. Many interpersonal problems are often a matter of power; power problems sometimes give rise to violence. For example, male violence.

In the digital sphere, many groups work around Digital Machismo Violences (IMD). The Fem Bloc care service is one of them. According to the Fem Bloc service, most of the aid requests received are related to the
digital violence that occurs after the breakup of a partner relationship, such as digital control and surveillance, digital harassment, threats or blackmail. To learn how to protect yourself from these behaviors, they created the "Disconnect from your former partner" guide. In it you can find, among other knowledge, to protect your devices, data and accounts. But what's interesting is how they understand all that knowledge related to digital security: they talk about holistic security. In his words, digital security, from a holistic point of view, takes into account three variables: digital security, physical security and psychosocial well-being. Thus, they claim that reality is somehow, and remind us again that intervention must be carried out in different ways.

It may be difficult for professionals working on male and female violence and other violence to take into account this other variable of digitalization when performing interventions, but they know better than anyone how mutant violence is. Therefore, there is a constant innovation in their work to know the intricacies that violence seeks and find ways to face it.
