Cultural change on the left margin
Kimetz Arana Butroe @7ardi 2023ko abenduaren 20a

In the last municipal elections EH Bildu has been second in cities like Sestao and Santurtzi. The forces have become extremely equal, the hegemony of the parties ruled for decades has been broken, so that the sovereign left has moved from eternal opposition to a portal to win in the cities of the Left Margin, opening new opportunities to the region.

The eco-social crisis has also set the world at a crossroads and has multiplied the paths of transformation for the left forces that propose new models.

Times of major change have failed: Ezkerraldea is located in the last car of Euskal Herria in social policies, community, housing, cultural creation, care for the environment, involvement with the people, etc. The brake on the development of the potential of any change is a system of thought and functioning rooted in the region. Here the administration is not at the service of the citizens. There is no understanding of citizens’ problems. The usual procedures are extremely lengthy. Citizens' economic projects are not supported. They are all barriers to new ideas from partnerships.

Delegated policies are peones of the parties, a dialogue between them without culture, and so far no profound popular approaches or entity projects have been developed.

Delegated policies are peones of the parties, dialogue between them without culture, and so far no profound popular approaches or entity projects have been developed. In the Valle de Trapagan of 13,000 inhabitants, we live without fronts, nursing homes and cultural centers. Technicians manage what is there. There are no challenges to adapt to new situations or expand services. There is no collaborative culture between different departments.

The model of the big companies on the left margin has historically maintained production here, but has moved wealth elsewhere. Ours is the culture of the workers. There are no practices to entrench the economy in the region and reinvest wealth in the development of the territory. There are no alternative means of collecting, disseminating and developing new ideas.

To move forward, it is necessary to overcome these dynamics and create a new citizen culture. The fact that the changes arising from the eco-social crisis are based on the consolidation of the community and the re-appropriation of the resources of the environment can contribute to this. Build consensus bridges, offer young generations trained in transformation a space for action in their country, make proposals that can be supported. Let's define the path, let's not miss this opportunity, because we've been on the last car for a long time, let's move on to the next one.
