In human nature there is a need to have control over potentially dangerous variables in our lives. We need to reduce the risks that frighten us to get peace of mind. In this sense, knowledge offers us possibilities to relax. Throughout history, fear has also been the motor of the creation and mastery of certain social models.
Today, for many people, mobile is a driving uncertainty. We've been told that we need this device in order not to suffer the digital divide, but we're realizing that with the idea of bridging the digital divide, we're driving an increase in the number of people suffering from digital vulnerability.
Every week I have mobiles for about 20 people in digital vulnerability. These people see their mobiles as a threat: they have their devices full of ads and notifications. In many cases, devices sold with modernity and low price air are those that are most likely to generate vulnerability, as they are designed to feed business models that seek data extraction.
Four small steps to increase some control over the phone:
In the Mobile Adjustment section:
1) Manage Google services, disable Ad Id.
2) Manage notifications, remove most notifications. Instead of being told at all times by your cell phone, appreciate that you have a daily time to look at your cell phone, you'll have the flow of information under your control.
3) Manage privacy extension permissions.
4) Uninstall unnecessary applications.
At least with this you will manage some “noise” and increase the control of the retention in your hand.
