the realization of architecture studies in the public university? The question is answered by a poster seen in the architecture school of the UPV/EHU. In the poster there is a list of materials and tools for the development of the subjects, each section has been added a price. In the same way a building construction cost budget is made. Architecture firms cost more than other studies. The digitalization of the drawing of architecture has greatly simplified the necessary material (rotring, paralex, obsolete tools for drawing old scale by hand), but in many subjects it is drawn, printed and model with classical and contemporary instruments. Although manual material is reduced, digitisation plans to acquire and manage software, for which there are no public resources. On the other hand, architectural books and magazines are especially expensive because they are illustrated. The UPV/EHU has an important library, but the implementation of libraries of all faculties in a single building removed the library from everyday use.
The economic resources required by architectural subjects are not a place of reflection. The teaching staff does not take into account the condition of economic cost in the approach of the subject, so it does not generate a source of financial support, since it is assumed that the overcost will be constituted by the sources of income from the work of the families or students. Or it is still believed that architects form an economic elite in the lineage of wealthy families, although the reality of classrooms is far from it. What students may not know is that the professional practice of architecture also requires large investments. Tuition and civil liability insurance are permanent expenses that must be incorporated into the ordinary expenses of any office. It's clear that in architecture classrooms, there's a lot of talk about pending money.
