In recent years I have continued the work of Basque agents in the digital field. Currently, there are different ways to understand the role of Euskera in the digital environment and around the technologies that promote it. In this column I will share some reflections on these views, always recognizing that what I know is limited and with the objective of clarifying my ideas while writing.
In relation to its current relationship with technology, I see three types of agents or projects. They don't have to be mutually exclusive, I tend to be on one side or the other depending on the project.
On the one hand, the agents closely linked to the Basque Country want to boost the presence of the Basque Country in the immense plaza of digital resources. Let the Basque appear in the head a reality, where there are people, interviews, contents.
On the other hand, to facilitate the work of the former, there is a set of agents in which many technological innovations are developed. Those who understand that automation is closer to acquiring a digital space in Basque.
Finally, various agents seem to represent the Basque digital space as a nearby digital garden. And with this idea, the digital realm and the technologies that promote it are rethinking. They seek alternative technologies to facilitate and care for Basque relations, interviews, contents... They have created a digital garden for the Basque Country, they have learned to cultivate the garden, they have acquired knowledge, they have become independent, and they also share harvest, making free knowledge available to all, expanding innovation among other agents.
The digital technology we have today offers us excellent opportunities to represent and shape the world, and the Basque country has become a source of innovation.
