Dear robot
I just read the last interview by Kate Darling, a researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Among other things, a couple of ideas have given me what to think: “We are in the era of Artificial Intelligence, we can move from fear to love in an instant,” and “it will soon not be weird to fall in love with a robot.”
They say that there are already domestic robots that consider them domestic and therefore accept them as living beings. About ten years ago, in the film Her directed by Spike Jonz, similar relationships were naturally raised.
Kate Darling analyzes the legal, social and ethical consequences that these relationships can generate and makes their ideas public. And I, in my own way, want to take mine out.
We will soon have the opportunity to create “homemade” that do not create mistakes. They will be like we want. Physically and also in the way of relating.
In a machismo society, I'm really scared to think about how we would choose if a lot of men put the possibilities of designing our partner in front of us. The belief that the freedom of others is against oneself does not mean anything good.
Fortunately, we're not robots. Coping with the doubts and contradictions that arise in daily life is the attracting imperfection of the relationship
And if we didn't have the limiting effect of education, church, media, dark societies ... Would all of our home news be the same kind as the couples we have today? And should gender be concretized to create relationships? If we were totally free, wouldn't we make the decision to try other alternatives? I mean couples, but if we could have half a dozen of these domestic robots, would we fall in love alone or would we find a way to love everyone at once?
Reading Kate Darling that we'll fall in love with robots, I thought I don't want a perfect relationship. Fortunately, we're not robots. The small “mistakes” of us and those who accompany us make the relationship interesting. Coping with the doubts and contradictions that arise in daily life is what makes the relationship attractive.
“Imperfect relationships.” Pablo Milanés sings The short space you are not in. A little bit has come to mind. It says something like this. If one day a robot is able to explain in such a sweet way the desire for free relationship, I recognize that it was wrong, and maybe I'll fall in love.
