Terror
Last week a great news story has spread in all the media: a student of the prestigious Lyceum Thomas Aquinas de San Juan de Luz has unjustifiably murdered his Spanish language teacher with a knife blow. This student, as we know, comes from the family that matters from education, from people who don't need it, has good school results, and says he never had words with that teacher, who had not created, until then, special concern in his environment. As has been known, he has heard inside the vows, and without being able to overcome them, during the class, without suddenly rising and without saying anything, he has approached the professor and put the knife in his chest.
This terrible event has been broadcast in all of them by local and French reviewers, and has swiftly hit Iparralde's professor, how not? Nothing would have made us think that this could happen, neither the social profile of the student, nor the quiet environment of the center. The following day, therefore, there was only talk of this savage murder in classes and in teaching classrooms, emphasizing the long-standing evil. However, this gesture, along with the conversations between teachers and students, has clearly demonstrated that youth is psychologically incorrect and that it cannot receive aid in the school system because of the scarce resources.
Every day, the media send us desperate catastrophes, repeating us constantly: unstoppable climate change, which attracts misery and barb, guerrillas, impoverishment of young people… In addition, they suffer from domestic concerns and burnout stress, and at school they are constantly under pressure. Not to mention the moral and affective consequences of COVID-19 and the very long stage of rooting, which are now appearing, especially in adolescents. It is no wonder that if many young people cannot be projected in the near future, they do not make sense of work and coexistence, if they do not get used to it in a balanced way, if they are enthusiastically drawn to consumerism and banality, if they choose real or virtual poisons and slip into excesses.
It is not surprising that plural youth cannot be projected in the near future and move to excesses.
Teachers do their best to educate, listen, help young people. But they can't, and general terror devours their essays of action.
I have recently followed an academic education as a teacher. The content was interesting, but the starting point of the course has seemed hopeless: we have more and more students in difficulties, they are getting bigger, the new reform that the government prepares us makes the students with less ability mix in class, the teachers do not reach a special training and do not have companions, the burasca that many students have no more desire to make strength, therefore, how to teach and how to transmit a little knowledge.
A happy teacher can change the world, says the title of a book (Thich Nhat Hanh, Katherine Weare, Belfond, 2018). In Bizkitarte it seems that the world is deteriorating. It is logical to think that there are not many teachers, or that the setting is false.
In Bizkitarte, if not in the world, the teacher can influence the youth of his class, but not only the teacher, but also the father and mother, and the professionals of his environment, and also the fellow citizens. The solution can be found in mutual support, with ingenuity and not on its own, trusting each other and not letting fear lead to our hearts.
