Curious chronicle of Elcano's journey.
From the beginning, she tells us that grandmothers are also lies in books, and with that information, using stories, stories, truths and lies, grandma tells her nephew about Elcano's journey.
Sarrionandia has written a book for the young, so that the young people know what happened 500 years ago, how three ships came out under the direction of Magellan in search of a new commercial road, how the sailors, what they suffered, how much they suffered, how they rebelled, what the scurvy suffered… but the reader will not find in these pages a novel of adventures, more than that is what the grandmother tells her nephew. Your nephew will talk about racism, power, historical memory, economic relations, etc. Sarrionandia uses the story of the famous adventure or tide to talk about other topics, old behaviors but also current ones. As you can see from the images of illustrator Ares, the naos and modern warships can appear in the same image, or a little napalmeada during the Vietnam War fleeing Elcano boats. The book therefore offers many readings, with the excuse of the past to better understand the current situation.
A long dialogue that is narrated in 160 pages, in which, in addition to the story of the grandmother, questions, comments and reflections of the niece appear with answers, contributions, reflections of the grandmother.
The reader immerses himself in the story, discovering curiosities such as those that Elkano turned around the world by disobedience to the king, with historical data or the adventure of a tide. But equally interesting is the relationship between grandma and her niece, her desire to know, to know her past and her present, and that feeling leads grandma to tell the story, to show it. And we, looking at them, enjoying the narrative and the magnificent images of Ares.
