From the garlic to the tracksuit
- The Parisian fruit growers named the tracksuit we carry today for sports or for the street, more specifically the garlic sellers.
In French, the term marchand d’ail literally means “selling garlic”, but it was used to designate fruit and vegetables in general.
By the end of the 19th century, Parisian frutars wore special jerseys and, summarizing marchand d’ail, began to call the garment chandail. As it was very comfortable, they started using it for sport and later it would be called a tracksuit not only to the jersey, but also to the sports pants. Especially in the last two years, the tracksuit has shown that it is very comfortable and appropriate for not doing sport or anything.
