Last year 61 workers died in accidents at work, according to the current number of accidents and deaths at work, which requires a long debate. The power of employers is reflected in the fact that governments are not asking for anything. That workers' complaints have no force to force change. It's hard to find a death that causes less fuss in society. What do you imagine that the year will go back to zero when the Spanish Government has just approved institutional support for the precariousness behind these deaths?

Reducing precariousness with this labour reform comes back to the hands of employers. And it's not going to shrink, because you're not going to give up that bargain. They will enjoy full advantage in negotiating working conditions, in order to change for themselves what has been agreed, in order to dismiss workers at a low price and at any time. In this way, precariousness cannot be reduced.

But this ensures the prevalence of the particular interests of capital. Digitalisation can be an opportunity to reduce working hours, to clear up the most expensive jobs, to strengthen professions and sectors that aim to improve quality of life, to better organise work… However, with this reform, digitalisation will be a unique opportunity for companies to reduce labour costs. It threatens the workers.

The new phase of confrontation in the working world will open up in the playing field established by the reform, and it will be interesting to see how the response of the moment is organised. But it is more important to clarify the path that we are going to follow with the answer. If we are going to succeed, with the decisions taken in Euskal Herria, in building a firm wall to deal with the consequences of the reform. And if we are going to be able to move forward in the organisation of labour relations in a different way, between Basque trade union, social and political actors.
